01 Feb Wildlife-VIDEO: Leopard Kill, Mother and Cub feeding at night on a Puku Antelope
This footage is from one of our Leopard-Phototours to the Luangwa valley in Zambia. This mother leopard was busy feeding with her cub at night in South Luangwa National Park. The mother had caught a rather heavy puku late afternoon, but she was unable to get the prey up a tree. So she had to leave it on the ground and you can see how mother and cub eat at the same time. It is also very interesting how the mother licks the prey and also how she tries to scratch sand on the dead animal – probably to whitewash the smell. Other food competitors may not be aware then of the dead animal on the ground. The clicking sound of the cameras might be a litte disturbing, sorry for that.
